Overview

Woven Hue is a smart, user-friendly app that offers customized hair care routines and product recommendations for women aged 20-40. It combines AI technology with an intuitive design to ensure a bespoke journey.

User research

For Woven Hue, research was done through secondary and market research, along with targeted user discovery interviews with 13 participants.

Key takeaways:

-Individual hair acceptance is crucial.

-People are unsure of which products to use.

-People define healthy hair uniquely.

This groundwork was used to create personas and user flows to prioritize the most crucial steps for users to gain value.

User flows

I created user stories to understand users' needs and identified the most critical steps for achieving their goals. This exercise emphasized the importance of a value-based onboarding experience, hair assessment, and personalized product recommendations to ensure a tailored user experience.

Style Guide

I established a strong brand foundation with mood boards, color selection, and logo creation before creating wireframes.

Low-fi wireframes

I sketched out my ideas and created wireframes for each screen, and studied other apps to gain ideas. I learned to use the initial onboarding screens to focus on value propositions.

Hi-fi wireframes

I made high-fidelity frames by combining branding and user research. I chose a calming horchata color instead of a bright one to help users feel relaxed.

updates

I received valuable feedback during usability testing for my prototype. For my next iteration, I redirected the user flow, introduced clearer guidance, and made the outcome of the process more apparent. I also improved the inclusivity of the illustrations by adding options for different skin colors and hair types. Additionally, I updated the copy to be more engaging and highlight the benefits.
